Shaffner Heaney Associates furnished and installed Kalwall® Skylights with Cabot® Corporation Nanogel® insulation to provide a U = .05 (R-20) with 20% light transmission. The largest skylight is a 64' minimal outward thrust structural pyramid over the library. Other daylighting units include a 16' x 24' structural ridge skylight over the dining hall, a 36'-x 20' structural ridge skylight at the front entrance, one 12' and four 16' pyramids strategically located to provide natural daylight throughout the school. This was all possible through the R-20 insulation value allowing natural daylight and keeping the building envelope within Indiana energy code requirements.
